Moneca Stori is a Canadian former voice actress known for her extensive work in English dubs of anime series and films, primarily during the late 1990s and 2000s. She was born on January 17, 1970, in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is also credited professionally under her birth name, Monica Gemmer. Her career in voice acting began after starting in theater, where she performed in productions for young audiences and appeared in the Vancouver TheatreSports' Jessie Award-winning production of Free Willy Shakespeare.
Stori is best recognized for providing the original English voice of Kagome Higurashi, the main female protagonist in the long-running anime series InuYasha. This role stands as her most prominent and defining performance. Another of her major lead roles was as Laura Haruna in the popular children's anime series Hamtaro. In addition to these, her filmography includes a wide range of characters in various notable series. She voiced Kei Amemiya in the film Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, as specified. Her other credits include Videl in the Ocean Group dub of Dragon Ball Z, Sally Po in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Amanda Sefton in X-Men: Evolution, and Hilda Spellman in Sabrina's Secret Life. She also lent her voice to characters in Ranma ½, Monster Rancher, and the film Junkers Come Here.
Throughout her career in Vancouver, Stori was affiliated with Lucas Talent. A recurring professional relationship noted in her work was with fellow voice actress Cathy Weseluck; in both InuYasha and Hamtaro, Stori voiced the daughter of characters played by Weseluck. Stori has been retired from acting since approximately 2018, and her role as Kagome Higurashi was later taken over by Kira Tozer for the final season of the series, Inuyasha: The Final Act.
