Shun Numa

Description
Shun Numa is a Japanese manga artist known for his work in Weekly Shonen Jump. Born on June 18, 1991, he began his professional career after being discovered through the Jump Treasure Newcomer Manga Award. He made his debut in 2014 with the one-shot Moromono no Jijou, published in Shonen Jump NEXT!!, which was later followed by a short serialization of the same title in Weekly Shonen Jump.

Numa’s first full serialization was Samon the Summoner, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2015 to 2017. The series, spanning 83 chapters collected in ten volumes, is a fantasy comedy centered on a protagonist with an unheroic and selfish personality, a characteristic that became a hallmark of his comedic style. Following this, he published several one-shots across various Jump publications, including O-Edo Ele-Ki, Kin to Ai to Watashi, and the one-shot version of what would become his next major work.

His subsequent serialization is Super Psychic Policeman Chojo, which was published in Weekly Shonen Jump from early 2024 to 2025. The series is a police comedy that follows a problematic yet powerful psychic police sergeant and his straight-laced rookie partner. It achieved commercial success, with cumulative sales exceeding 300,000 copies, and received recognition on ranking lists such as the Next Manga Awards. Numa’s artistic identity is defined by fast-paced gag comedy, dark humor, and a focus on flawed protagonists whose schemes often backfire in absurd ways. His work has also appeared in tribute projects for major franchises, including contributions to the Dragon Ball 30th anniversary Super History Book and the Kochikame tribute collection.
