Tarek Helmy

Tarek Helmy is a German voice actor and former actor, born in Berlin on January 19, 1975. He began his career in front of the camera as a child actor, being discovered by a casting scout in 1982. His most notable on-screen role was as Tom Graf, the youngest son of the Schumann family, in the popular ZDF series Ich heirate eine Familie, a part he played from 1983 to 1986. He also appeared in other German television series such as Ein Heim für Tiere and Wie gut, daß es Maria gibt.
Helmy transitioned to voice acting, becoming known for dubbing foreign films and television series into German. One of his most recognized early dubbing roles was providing the German voice for Wil Wheaton's character Gordie Lachance in the classic film Stand by Me. He also voiced Jeff Cohen as Chunk in Die Goonies and took over the role of John Thomas J.T. Lambert in the long-running sitcom Eine starke Familie.
In the realm of anime, Helmy contributed to the German dubbed version of the series Daimidaler: Prince vs. Penguin Empire. In this 2014 anime, he voiced the character Michael, the German counterpart for the original Japanese voice actor Taishi Murata. His extensive voice work spans a wide variety of other projects, including the role of Zulu in the series Freakish and voicing Officer Billy in The Ranch.
Helmy comes from a family of voice actors; his sister is Ranja Bonalana and his niece is Valentina Bonalana, both of whom are also active in the dubbing industry. In addition to his voice work, he has been involved in music, performing as a rapper under the name MC Potna Pot with the hip-hop band Kinzmania, and has also worked as a music producer.
