Nic Romm
Description
Nic Romm is a German actor and voice artist who has built a career spanning theatre, film, television, and extensive voice work in dubbing and audio dramas. Born in Montreal, Canada in 1974, he grew up in Jülich, Germany, from the age of three. He studied acting at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover from 1997 to 2001.
In anime and animation dubbing, Romm provided the German voice for the character Jim in the 2016 German-language version of the anime series Daimidaler: Prince vs. Penguin Empire. His voice work, however, extends far beyond this single credit. He has voiced prominent roles in major international productions, including the character Ori in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit film trilogy and King Gristle Jr. in the Trolls animated film series. He is also the German dubbing voice for actors such as Jonny Lee Miller (in T2 Trainspotting), Daniel Webber (in The Punisher), and Kris Marshall (in Death in Paradise).
Romm's career as a voice artist began to take shape after he moved to Berlin, where he gained experience and routine by dubbing numerous B-movies. Beyond dubbing, he is an established voice in the German audio drama and Hörspiel scene. A significant achievement in this area is his role as the narrator for the long-running and popular TKKG audio drama series, a position he has held since 2023. He has also appeared in productions for Westdeutscher Rundfunk, such as the series Caiman Club, and in the long-running Die Drei??? series.
Before his extensive voice work, Romm gained recognition as a screen actor. A career milestone came in 2008 when he won a casting show hosted by Michael Herbig, securing the role of the Viking Tjure in the live-action film Wickie und die starken Männer and its sequel. His on-screen work includes appearances in German television series such as Alarm für Cobra 11, SOKO Stuttgart, and Wilsberg, as well as the film Crazy.
