Stefanie Izquierdo

Description
Stefanie Izquierdo is a Mexican voice actor and dramaturge based in Mexico City, recognized for her work in anime dubbing for Latin American Spanish. She is a graduate of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with a degree in Dramatic Literature and Theatre. Her foundation in acting was established through this formal education, and she later pursued specialized training in voice acting under the guidance of prominent figures in the Mexican dubbing industry, including Patricia Palestino, Humberto Vélez, and Cynthia Chong.

Before gaining recognition in voice acting, Izquierdo built a career in theatre, both as a performer and a writer. In 2019, she published her first book, Puntos de fuga, a collection of three of her theatrical works. Her work as a playwright has earned her significant accolades, including the Premio Dolores Castro in October 2020 for her dramatic work Tuvimos un cuerpo. She was also a beneficiary of the FONCA Jóvenes Creadores program (2021-2022) in the area of dramaturgy.

Her entry into the world of dubbing followed her theatrical career, beginning with work in commercial voice-over for brands before transitioning to character work in animation and anime. A significant milestone in her anime dubbing career came with her casting as the lead character Illyasviel von Einzbern in the series Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, a role she described as one of the most important challenges of her professional life due to the character's wide emotional range and extensive dialogue. This project was produced for the streaming platform Anime Onegai under the direction of David Allende.

Her filmography in anime includes a variety of roles. She voices Tsuruno Yui in Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story, Kaede Kaburagi in Tiger & Bunny, and Ai Katai in Komi Can't Communicate. Other credits include roles in The Qwaser of Stigmata as Astarte, Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy as Akina, Skip and Loafer as Maharu Iwakura, Nagi no Asukara as Sayu Hisanuma, World Trigger as Futaba Kuroe, and Yowamushi Pedal as Aya Tachibana. Beyond anime, her voice work extends to animated series and films. She voiced Princess Gwen in the film Cinderella and has been part of the cast for series such as Gen V, where she dubs the character Cate Dunlap.

Izquierdo's early promise in the field was recognized in 2021 with a nomination for the Lavat Awards in the category of Revelation Female in Animation Dubbing. Her career is characterized by a parallel dedication to theatre and voice acting, with her work as a dramatist continuing to inform her approach to character interpretation in dubbing. She has cited the importance of a strong acting foundation and discipline for success in the voice acting industry.
