Daiki Ihara

Description
Daiki Ihara is a Japanese manga artist and writer known for creating comedic series, primarily for Shueisha's publishing platforms. Ihara's professional debut was in 2014 with the short series Yukimi Daifuku. This was followed by the daily comic Ihara 20 Days, which was serialized on the Shōnen Jump+ service from November to December 2016.

Ihara is best known as the creator of Koisuru One Piece, an official spin-off of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece franchise. The manga, which Ihara both writes and illustrates, began serialization on Shueisha's Shōnen Jump+ platform on June 18, 2018. The series presents a high school comedy where students with the same names as the Straw Hat Pirates form a fan club, parodying moments from the original manga. The series went on hiatus in November 2021 when Ihara began a new series but resumed publication in April 2025. As of November 2025, eleven tankōbon volumes have been released. The series was adapted into an original net animation in April 2025, consisting of five short episodes produced by Toei Animation.

Beyond Koisuru One Piece, Ihara's notable works include Protect Me, Shugomaru!, which was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from late 2021 to 2022. More recently, Ihara created Yokai Basuta Murakami, a two-volume supernatural battle comedy published by Shueisha in 2024 and 2025. These works, along with earlier series, establish Ihara's artistic identity within the comedy and gag humor genres, often incorporating elements of parody and supernatural themes.

As a creator who has contributed to both Shōnen Jump+ and the flagship Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, Ihara holds a recognized position in the industry. The ongoing publication and anime adaptation of Koisuru One Piece demonstrate the sustained popularity of Ihara's work and its significance as an officially authorized expansion of one of the best-selling manga series in history.
