Description
Three high school students find their lives intertwined by a shared love for a famous pirate adventure. Luffy Yamamoto is a timid first-year, Nami Koyama is his classmate who secretly harbors feelings for him, and Usopp Nakatsugawa is a self-proclaimed sniper and passionate devotee of the series One Piece. Recognizing the coincidence that their names closely resemble those of the main characters from the manga, Usopp enthusiastically recruits Luffy to join a pirate club he aims to lead, with Nami also getting pulled into the fold. Together, they form an official fan club dedicated to celebrating their favorite story.
The narrative unfolds as a gag comedy that parodies the source material, reimagining iconic characters and dramatic moments from the grand adventures as the mundane, relatable situations of Japanese student life. A trip to the zoo, for instance, turns into a joke about encountering Zoan Devil Fruit users, and the group's dynamic often mirrors the crew's roles in absurdly low-stakes ways. Other characters who share names with the Straw Hat crew gradually appear, including Sato Yoshioka from the cooking club who fills in as their Sanji, and a real reindeer from a local zoo named Chopper. The comedy often stems from the contrast between the epic source material and the ordinary high school setting, such as when a student named Morishita Yukie approaches Luffy wearing a mask resembling the figureheads of the Thousand Sunny and Going Merry ships, insisting on playing the role of the group's vessel.
The main narrative arc follows the club's formation and their daily interactions as they navigate school life through the lens of their fandom. A significant portion of the story focuses on the awkward and unspoken romantic tension between the shy Luffy and Nami, with Usopp frequently acting as the comedic third wheel and instigator of their pirate-themed activities. A notable arc involves the club competing in school challenges and tournaments against other students who take on the roles of characters like Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kid, adding a layer of friendly rivalry to the parody. The story maintains a light and accessible tone, using the framework of the original epic to explore themes of friendship, first love, and the joy of sharing a passion with others, all while delivering rapid-fire visual gags and references for fans of the original work. The series of five short episodes was released over five consecutive days in April 2025, presented in a vertical format suitable for streaming on social media platforms. A special episode was later released in August 2025 to commemorate an annual fan event.
