Kagari Tamaoka

Description
Kagari Tamaoka is a Japanese manga artist recognized as the original creator of the four-panel yonkoma series Mangirl!. Tamaoka both wrote and illustrated this work, which follows a group of young women attempting to launch a manga magazine. The series was serialized in Earth Star Entertainment's Comic Earth Star magazine from April 2011 to July 2013 and was later compiled into three tankōbon volumes. The manga's success led to an anime television adaptation produced by the studio Doga Kobo, which aired in Japan from January to March 2013.

Beyond Mangirl!, Tamaoka's bibliography includes work on several other manga projects. Tamaoka contributed to anthology comics for established franchises, including a short work for the K-ON! Anthology Comic and a piece for the Non Non Biyori Koushiki Ansorojii. Tamaoka also served as the artist for Yoshinaga-san Chi no Gargoyle, an adaptation of a light novel series by Sennendou Taguchi, which was published in Magi-Cu magazine from February 2004 to November 2006. More recent work includes the ongoing series Tensei Oujo wa Kyou mo Hata o Tatakioru, an isekai manga about a princess reincarnated into an otome game world. Another credited work is Soukan! Comic Earth Star Henshuubu, a series depicting the daily lives of manga magazine editors.
