Chris Pratt

Description
Christopher Pratt, known professionally as Chris Pratt, is an American actor who has built a significant career in voice acting alongside his live-action franchise work, contributing to some of the most commercially successful animated films of the last decade. His voice acting career began with small roles in animated television series before he gained prominence in major studio animated features.

Pratt's earliest voice role was in 2008, when he voiced the character Jake in an episode of the DC Comics animated series The Batman. In the season five episode titled Attack of the Terrible Trio, Jake is a college student and swim team jock who becomes an ape-human hybrid after being exposed to a mutagen. Following this, he provided the voice for the character Cooper in the Cartoon Network series Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, appearing in two episodes during 2010 and 2011. Cooper is a friend of the main character Ben Tennyson with technopathic abilities.

Pratt's career in animation expanded significantly in 2014 when he was cast as the lead voice in The Lego Movie. He portrayed Emmet Brickowski, an ordinary, optimistic construction worker who is mistakenly identified as the prophesied Special destined to save the Lego universe. The film was a critical and commercial success, and Pratt's performance as the enthusiastic and naive Emmet is widely considered his defining voice role. He reprised this role in subsequent projects, including the short film Emmet's Holiday Party in 2018 and the sequel The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part in 2019. In the sequel, he also voiced a new character, Rex Dangervest, a character designed to parody Pratt's own live-action action hero personas.

In 2020, Pratt voiced the character Barley Lightfoot in the Pixar animated film Onward, directed by Dan Scanlon. He starred alongside his Avengers co-star Tom Holland, with Pratt playing the older, adventurous, and enthusiastic elven brother on a quest to spend one more day with their late father. The film received positive reviews, with Pratt's heartfelt and comedic performance being highlighted.

Pratt took on the iconic role of Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, released in 2023 by Illumination and Nintendo. His casting as the legendary video game plumber generated significant discussion, and his performance, which used a voice distinct from the character's traditional accent, was part of the film's massive box office success, grossing over $1.3 billion worldwide. The following year, in 2024, he voiced the titular character in The Garfield Movie, taking over a role previously played by Bill Murray.

Throughout his voice acting career, Pratt has collaborated with directors and studios on multiple projects. He worked with directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller on The Lego Movie franchise and with director Dan Scanlon on Pixar's Onward. His work in animation has often intersected with his live-action career, including his long-standing role as Peter Quill / Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which began in 2014, the same year as his breakout voice role in The Lego Movie.

Pratt's contributions to voice acting have been recognized with award nominations. He received a nomination for the Teen Choice Award for Best Animated Movie Voice for The Lego Movie. Additionally, his performance in Pixar's Onward earned him a nomination for the inaugural Critics' Choice Super Award for Best Voice Actor in an Animated Movie. His broader impact on the film industry, including his voice work, led to him being named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in 2015 and receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
