Description
Claudio Santamaria is an Italian actor and voice actor, born in Rome on July 22, 1974. While he is primarily known for his extensive live-action film and television career, which includes a David di Donatello award for his role in "Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot," he has also built a significant body of work in dubbing.

Santamaria's voice acting career includes providing the official Italian voice for high-profile Hollywood actors. A prominent example is his dubbing of Christian Bale's portrayal of Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy: "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight," and "The Dark Knight Rises". He also dubbed Eric Bana in Steven Spielberg's "Munich". He has continued to voice the character of Batman in various animated and related projects, including "The LEGO Movie," "LEGO Batman - The Movie," and "The LEGO Movie 2 - Una nuova avventura," as well as a Spotify podcast titled "Batman - Un'autopsia".

In the realm of animation, Santamaria has lent his voice to several prominent characters. He voiced the monster hunter Jacob Holland in the Italian dub of the Netflix animated film "Il Mostro Dei Mari" (The Sea Beast). However, his most widely recognized recent voice role is that of the iconic video game character Mario in the 2023 animated film "The Super Mario Bros. Movie". In this production, he dubbed over the performance of Chris Pratt for the Italian version of the film. Santamaria has described the experience of dubbing Mario as both playful and technically challenging, noting the character's determination and comparing him to a "piccolo Rocky" (little Rocky).

Beyond mainstream commercial films, Santamaria has also applied his voice work to documentary projects. He has been a supporter of Survival International, a movement for indigenous peoples' rights, and has narrated films for the organization, including "Mine - Storia di una montagna sacra" in 2009.
