Laurent Chauvet

Laurent Chauvet, also known professionally as Laurent Sao, is a Belgian actor specialized in dubbing who works primarily in France. He trained at the INSAS, the Institut National Supérieur des Arts du Spectacle, in Brussels. He is widely recognized for his extensive voice work in animation, particularly for major anime series dubbed into French.

His most prominent and long-standing anime role is providing the French voice of the protagonist Yugi Muto and his alter ego Yami Yugi in the long-running series Yu-Gi-Oh! and its subsequent related series, including Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monsters. He is also well-known as one of the primary French voices for the character Pierre (known as Brock in English) in the Pokémon anime, voicing the character for a significant number of episodes across several seasons and in multiple films such as Pokémon: The First Movie and Pokémon 3: The Spell of the Unown. His other notable anime credits include the roles of Robert E. O. Speedwagon in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Tom in Mirmo.

In 2021, he voiced the character Balto Phthalo, the overworked right-hand man to the Demon Lord, in the French adaptation of the anime series So I'm a Spider, So What?. Beyond animation, his dubbing work extends to live-action film and television, including roles in major Hollywood productions such as The Dark Knight Rises and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as well as the video game Final Fantasy XVI.
