Nodoka Shinomaru is a Japanese manga artist and original creator, born in 1985 in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. She is known for her work across several genres, including heartwarming comedy, romance, and gag manga. Shinomaru is best recognized as the author of the manga series Poco's Udon World, which was adapted into an anime television series.

Shinomaru made her debut as a manga author with the series Poco's Udon World, known in Japanese as Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari. The manga began serialization in Shinchosha's Monthly Comic @ Bunch magazine in August 2012 and concluded in February 2019, with its chapters collected into twelve tankōbon volumes. The story follows Souta Tawara, a man who returns to his hometown in Kagawa Prefecture after his father's death and discovers a mysterious young boy who is actually a shape-shifting tanuki, leading him to confront his past and family legacy. The manga was published under the seinen demographic, targeting young adult male readers.

The success of the manga led to an anime television adaptation produced by Liden Films, which aired from October to December 2016. For the anime, Shinomaru is credited as the original creator, with the series script written by Natsuko Takahashi. The adaptation brought the story of Souta and the tanuki child Poco to a wider audience.

Beyond her most famous work, Shinomaru has created several other manga series. She wrote and illustrated Hana to Kurogane, a story about a girl and a weapon who meet on a remote island, which was serialized in Young Magazine the 3rd from October 2014 to August 2018 and collected into four volumes. Her other published works include Nandaka Sekai ga Utsukushii no wa,莺谷ワールドエンド (鶯谷ワールドエンド), and contributions to the anthology Manga Men.

Shinomaru is considered a skilled and rising talent in the industry, known for her versatility in handling different types of narratives from romantic stories to comedic and heartfelt dramas. Her work often explores themes of personal connection, returning to one's roots, and finding family in unexpected places, as exemplified by the central relationship in Poco's Udon World between a reluctant caretaker and a magical child.
