Shiori Kutsuna

Description
Shiori Kutsuna, also known as Shioli Kutsuna, is a Japanese-Australian actress born in Sydney, Australia, on December 22, 1992. She moved to Japan at the age of fourteen to pursue a career in entertainment, a decision that led to her entry into the industry after winning a special jury prize at the 11th Japan Bishōjo Contest in 2006. While she is primarily known for her extensive live-action work in both Japanese and international film and television, her career includes notable contributions to voice acting in major animated projects.

Kutsuna's voice acting credits are highlighted by her role as Lunafrena Nox Fleuret in the Japanese-language version of the 2016 feature-length CG film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. In this film, which serves as a companion piece to the video game Final Fantasy XV, she provided the voice for the Oracle, a central character crucial to the story's political and mystical conflicts. It is important to note that while Kutsuna voiced Lunafrena in Kingsglaive, a different actress, Rina Kitagawa, voiced the character for the Final Fantasy XV video game itself. Kutsuna's other work in animation includes a voice role in the 2012 Japanese-language version of the film The Life of Guskou Budori, where she played the character Neri.

Beyond these specific voice roles, Kutsuna's career is marked by a trajectory from Japanese television and film to international prominence. After her debut, she gained recognition in Japan through television dramas such as Mei-chan no Shitsuji and Kaseifu no Mita, as well as films like Beck and Unforgiven. Her performance in the film Unforgiven, alongside her role in Before The Vigil, earned her the Newcomer of the Year award at the 37th Japan Academy Prize in 2014. She has also received other accolades earlier in her career, including the Kinema Junpo Award for Best New Actress in 2011.

Fluent in both English and Japanese due to her upbringing in Australia, Kutsuna has successfully transitioned to international productions. She is widely recognized for her portrayal of the mutant Yukio in the Hollywood films Deadpool 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine. Her other English-language work includes roles in the Apple TV+ series Invasion and the film Murder Mystery. In a continuation of her work in the video game space, she is set to appear in Hideo Kojima's upcoming game, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.
