Yūji Yūji

Description
Yūji Yūji is a Japanese author recognized as the original creator of several light novel and manga series, notably Oreshura and The 100th Time's the Charm. Yūji Yūji's professional identity is centered on writing, with a career spanning from the early 2010s to the present day.

Yūji Yūji first gained prominence with the romantic comedy light novel series Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru, commonly abbreviated as Oreshura. The series, illustrated by Llo, was published by SB Creative under its GA Bunko imprint. The main series ran for eighteen volumes from February 2011 to February 2022. The success of the light novel led to multiple manga adaptations by various artists, including a version illustrated by Nanasuke serialized in Square Enix's Gangan Joker magazine. An anime television adaptation produced by A-1 Pictures aired from January to March 2013, bringing the story of a high school boy who rejects romance only to find himself in a fake relationship with the school beauty to a wider audience.

In the 2020s, Yūji Yūji created The 100th Time's the Charm: She Was Executed 99 Times, So How Did She Unlock "Super Love" Mode?!, a fantasy series. It originally began as a web novel posted on the online platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō in May 2022 under the pen name Hima Maruyama. The series was subsequently picked up for print publication as a light novel by Drecom Media, with illustrations by Nami Hidaka. The first volume was released in October 2022 under the DRE Novels imprint, and three volumes had been published as of September 2024. A manga adaptation illustrated by Roharu Kai began serialization on Drecom Media's DRE Comics service in June 2023, compiling six tankōbon volumes as of March 2026.

The growing popularity of The 100th Time's the Charm culminated in the announcement of an anime adaptation at the Drecom Industry Panel during Anime Expo 2025. Yūji Yūji released a comment celebrating the news, expressing gratitude for the series' journey from a small internet story to a global property. This announcement marks a significant milestone, establishing the creator with a second major franchise adapted for television following Oreshura.

Yūji Yūji's body of work demonstrates a focus on character-driven narratives that blend genre conventions with comedic and fantastical elements. Oreshura plays with romantic comedy tropes centered on a reluctant protagonist and a harem of archetypal heroines, while The 100th Time's the Charm engages with the popular isekai and reincarnation sub-genres, focusing on a falsely accused princess navigating repeated cycles of death. Across both series, Yūji Yūji has been the originating writer, with the light novel serving as the source material from which manga and anime adaptations are developed. The creator maintains a consistent presence in the light novel medium, with works published by different companies such as SB Creative and Drecom Media, demonstrating a lasting and adaptable career in the anime and manga industry.
