He is also the founder of Cricket Sound, a professional recording studio. Okawa's path to voice acting began with classical stage training; he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the University of Arizona, where he performed in productions such as The Fantasticks and Othello. This foundation in performance, particularly his work with Shakespeare, led him to pursue a career in voice acting, which has now spanned over a decade in the video game industry alone.

In the realm of anime, Okawa has contributed to several high-profile English dubs. He is known for his roles in the popular franchise The Prince of Tennis.
