Shōko Amano

Description
Shoko Amano is a Japanese writer known for her work in light novels and anime. She made her literary debut in 2005 with the novel Keishichō Yūrei-kari (Metropolitan Police Department Ghost Section), published by Shueisha. Her academic background includes a degree in German from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. She is a member of the Japan Literary Association and has been a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of Japan since June 2024.

Amano is the author of several long-running light novel series. One of her best-known works is the Yorozu Uranaidokoro Onmyōya series (Welcome to the Fortune-Telling Place Onmyōya), which began publication in 2007. This series was adapted into a Japanese television drama that aired on Fuji Television from October to December 2013. Her other major series include the Keishichō Yūrei-kari series, the Boku to Shinigami (Bodyguard) series, and the Nekomata Sōdansho series.

In the field of anime, Amano is credited as an original creator for the 2025 anthology anime series Shūkan Ranobe Anime. Her contribution to this project was the segment titled Marie Antoinette ni Tensei Shita node, Zenryoku de Guillotine wo Kaihi Shimasu (Reborn as Marie Antoinette, I'll Give it My All to Avoid the Guillotine). For this segment, she served as the original creator, series composer, and scriptwriter. The anime aired on the Animazing programming block on ANN affiliates from July to September 2025.
