Matthew Waterson is a British-American voice actor whose career spans animation, video games, and audiobooks. He was born in Los Angeles, California, on July 21, 1979, and grew up in Britain. His path to voice acting was grounded in a formal theatrical education; he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Mathematics from Tufts University in Boston before completing a postgraduate classical theater conservatory program at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). He initially worked in theater in New York for roughly eight years, appearing in Off-Broadway and regional productions, before transitioning to voice work full-time and relocating to the West Coast approximately a decade ago. His early career included commercial voiceovers for brands like Twinings Tea and Frank's Red Hot Sauce, as well as work for networks such as ESPN and ABC.

Waterson has an extensive list of credits in animation and anime. Within the anime sphere, he is known for the role of Dragan in the Netflix series Castlevania. He also voiced Kaido in the series 100 Meters. Beyond these specific anime titles, his work frequently appears in action and fantasy animation. He played the troll warrior Draal in Guillermo del Toro's Trollhunters and voiced the character Phil in The Croods: Family Tree. In the realm of superhero animation, he delivered a notable performance as the voice of Magneto in X-Men '97. Other animation credits include roles in What If...?, Monster High, and the animated film Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham, where he played Jason Blood and the demon Etrigan.
