Choi Soomin

Choi Soomin is a South Korean voice actress whose career spans more than five decades. She initially joined the Tongyang Broadcasting Company, TBC, as a voice actor in 1969 and was later reclassified as a voice actor for the Korean Broadcasting System, KBS, following a media merger in 1980. In contemporary animation, one of her notable roles is Master Duta in Star Wars: Visions Volume 2. The character, a Tholothian Jedi Master who serves on the Jedi Council, appears in the episode titled Journey to the Dark Head, which premiered on Disney+ in May 2023.

Outside of her work in animation, Choi Soomin has a long history of voice acting for characters in various media. She is known for providing the Korean dub voice for iconic characters, including Mickey Mouse. Her extensive voice credits include roles such as the title character Youngshim in the cartoon Youngshim, Na Ae-ri in Run Hani, Biryong in Cooking Master Biryong, and Eomji in Wandering Magpie. She was also a prolific voice artist for the Korean dub of the Power Rangers series.

Later in her career, she expanded her work to include on-screen acting, making her acting debut in the television drama Birthcare Center. Her additional on-screen appearances include roles in the films A Year-End Medley and Moongyeong: More than Roads, as well as the television series The Fiery Priest Season 2 and Café Minamdang. She is the mother of South Korean actor Cha Tae-hyun.
