Minami Shinoda
Description
Minami Shinoda is a Japanese voice actress born on June 3, 1994, in Chiba Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent agency VIMS and has been active in the industry since 2014. Before pursuing voice acting, she spent part of her childhood in Singapore and trained in jazz dance, initially aspiring to work as a dancer or musical actor. Her interest in voice acting was sparked by watching the anime Shaman King during her elementary school years. During her first year of high school, she enrolled in the Japan Narration Actor Institute to study acting.
Shinoda's first involvement in the voice acting industry came through the radio program AniLove! GaChaGaCha, which she co-hosted while still a student. In 2013, she officially joined VIMS. Her debut in a major role came in 2014 when she was cast as Haru Kasukabe in the mobile game Tokyo 7th Sisters. That same year, she made her television anime debut with a minor role in the series One Week Friends.
She achieved her first leading role in a television anime in 2016 as Makoto Kowata in Flying Witch. This performance is noted for her use of the Tsugaru dialect. In 2017, she played another prominent role as Kyōko Machi in Interviews with Monster Girls. Her other notable anime roles include Piruluk in Lostorage incited WIXOSS and its sequel, Nonno in Monster Sonic! D'Artagnan's Rise to Fame, Asuka Iwaishi in The Ryuo's Work Is Never Done!, Lufey Pendragon in High School DxD Hero, and Takkun in Chio's School Road. In 2024, she was cast as Rika Matsudo in the anime Rinkai!.
Shinoda has also built a substantial career in video games. Beyond her debut role in Tokyo 7th Sisters, where she also voices Akane Narumi and other characters within the franchise, she is known for voicing Lexington in Azur Lane Crosswave, Sōza Samonji in Tenka Hyakken: Zan, and Agiri Goshiki in Kirara Fantasia. Her voice work also extends to dubbing foreign animation, such as providing the Japanese voice for Robin Underwood in Lego Nexo Knights.
In addition to her acting, Shinoda has demonstrated her singing abilities by performing character songs. For her role in Flying Witch, she and co-star Eri Suzuki performed the anime's ending theme song, Nichijō no Mahō. She has also contributed to numerous music CDs for the Tokyo 7th Sisters franchise as part of the groups 777☆SISTERS and WITCH NUMBER 4.
Shinoda's career is marked by a series of supporting and lead roles that often portray kind and gentle characters, though she has also shown range in other types of roles. Her background in dance has been an asset in performances for the Tokyo 7th Sisters concerts. She holds a beginner-level certification in Korean language proficiency. On August 31, 2021, she announced her departure from VIMS to work as a freelancer.
