Shu Wada was a Japanese actor, voice actor, and scriptwriter with a career that spanned over five decades. He was born on August 6, 1938, and passed away on April 23, 2020. Wada began his training at the Haiyuza Theatre Company before founding his own theater troupe, Yoru no Ki, in 1980. This background in stage performance grounded his subsequent work in television and film. While he appeared in numerous live-action television series, including the mystery comedy Trick and various suspense dramas, Wada is also recognized for his contributions to tokusatsu, a genre of Japanese live-action science fiction and fantasy. Within this field, he performed roles such as Combined Udesper in the series Inazuman Flash and Hone Banbara in Inazuman. He also voiced the character Ink Sumiika in the series Android Kikaider 01. Beyond his on-screen and voice work, Wada was a scriptwriter for selected projects. He was also the father of acclaimed screenwriter Gen Urobuchi, known for his work on anime series such as Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
