Cary Elwes, a British actor known for his live-action roles in films such as The Princess Bride, has an extensive career as a voice actor in English-language dubs of anime and animated productions. He is particularly recognized for his contributions to the films of Studio Ghibli.

One of Elwes's most prominent anime roles is in the 1992 film Porco Rosso, where he voices the character Donald Curtis. In the English dub of the 1995 film Whisper of the Heart, he first voiced the character of the Baron, a sophisticated cat statuette who comes to life and offers guidance to the young heroine. He reprised this role in the 2002 film The Cat Returns, a fantasy spin-off where the Baron plays a central role as the leader of the Cat Bureau, helping a girl lost in the Cat Kingdom. In these performances, Elwes is noted for bringing a gentlemanly and adventurous quality to the character.

Beyond his work with Studio Ghibli, Elwes has voiced characters in other animated series and films. He played the role of Paris of Troy in an episode of the animated series Hercules: The Animated Series and voiced Prince Roderick in the animated series Sofia the First. His voice acting also includes work on the series Family Guy and the animated film Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. In the 2024 live-action and animated miniseries Knuckles, which is part of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, he played the role of Pistol Pete Whipple. A recurring achievement in his voice career is his long association with Disney-related projects, including providing voices for the English dubs of Studio Ghibli films distributed by the company.
