Miman
Description
Miman is the original creator of the manga series Yuri Is My Job!, which has also been adapted into an anime television series. As a creator, Miman is primarily known for work within the yuri genre, which focuses on romantic relationships between female characters.
The manga Yuri Is My Job! began serialization in Ichijinsha's Comic Yuri Hime magazine on November 18, 2016, and was still ongoing as of early 2024, with thirteen tankōbon volumes released by that time. The series follows a high school girl named Hime Shiraki who, after accidentally injuring a café manager, begins working at a unique theme café called Liebe Girls Academy. The establishment is part café and part theater, where waitresses perform roles as students in a fictional all-girls boarding school. The story combines comedy with yuri romance and explores the contrast between the characters' performed personas and their true feelings. The English-language version of the manga was licensed by Kodansha USA, which marketed it as the company's first yuri release.
An anime adaptation of Yuri Is My Job! was announced in May 2022. The series was produced by the animation studios Passione and Studio Lings, with direction by Hijiri Sanpei. It premiered on Japanese television networks including AT-X and Tokyo MX on April 6, 2023, and ran for twelve episodes concluding on June 22, 2023.
Prior to creating Yuri Is My Job!, Miman had been a contributor to yuri manga anthologies, making the series their first major serialized work and their first to be translated into English. The creator has also published collections of early short stories, including a volume released in German under the title Mädchen x Mädchen, which compiles some of Miman's initial professional works. In May 2024, the Yuri Is My Job! manga went on hiatus, and it was later announced that the hiatus would be extended indefinitely due to Miman's health issues.
