Reina Tanaka
Description
Reina Tanaka is a Japanese singer, actress, and voice actress born on November 11, 1989, in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. She first rose to prominence as a performer in the entertainment industry before establishing her career as a voice actress.
Tanaka's career in the public eye began in music when she became a member of the popular J-pop group Morning Musume in January 2003 as part of the sixth generation. She remained a main vocalist with the group until her graduation in May 2013. Following her departure from Morning Musume, she formed and led the all-female rock band LoVendoЯ, with whom she released music until the group entered an indefinite hiatus in June 2019.
Her transition to voice acting began during her time with Morning Musume. Tanaka made her voice acting debut in 2008, taking on the lead role of Kirara Hoshizuki in the Sanrio-produced anime series Onegai My Melody Kirara, which premiered on April 6, 2008. This marked her first major anime voice role.
In 2010, Tanaka voiced the title character in the short anime series Kaitō Reinya. The character Reinya was reportedly modeled on Tanaka herself, and the series aired from January to March 2010. She also portrayed the role of Naomi in the series Zero Woman: The Hunted.
Beyond these notable roles, Tanaka has appeared in other media as a voice actress. She provided the voice for a Fairy character in the 2009 animated film Yona Yona Penguin. On the live-action side, she has made guest appearances in television dramas, including a role as Cardena in episodes seven and eight of the 2019 Super Sentai series Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger. She has also performed in musical theater, taking on the lead role of Miaka Yūki in stage adaptations of Fushigi Yūgi in 2016 and 2018, as well as the role of Number 4 in the YoRHa Musical Ver 1.2 in 2018.
Tanaka has remained active across music, voice acting, and stage performance throughout her career, balancing her background in idol and rock music with ongoing acting projects.
