Takahiro Yamamoto
Description
Takahiro Yamamoto is a Japanese voice actor, impressionist, and comedian born on February 19, 1975, in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. He is affiliated with the talent agency Acros Entertainment, having moved there in 2021 to further focus on his voice acting career. Yamamoto stands 162 cm tall and has blood type A.
Yamamoto's path to voice acting was unconventional. As a child, he admired the dubbed versions of Western television series such as Knight Rider and Airwolf, which sparked his initial interest in voice work. After graduating from high school, he attended culinary school and worked as a trainee cook at a hotel restaurant. At the age of 24, he decided to pursue his original dream and moved to Tokyo, enrolling at the Yoyogi Animation Academy. His classmates included renowned voice actress Mamiko Noto. However, after graduation, he struggled to find representation and worked various part-time jobs while briefly joining a theater troupe.
Finding it difficult to break into voice acting, Yamamoto turned to his natural talent for mimicry. He began a successful career as a comedic impressionist, becoming famous for his spot-on impersonations of actor Yuji Oda, including the popular catchphrase "Kitaa!" (It's here!). This led to regular appearances on television variety shows and live performances. He later expanded back into voice acting, initially focusing on dubbing foreign films and series. In addition to dubbing, he has voiced characters in several Japanese anime productions.
Among his notable anime voice roles is Ichikawa Sukefusa in the historical action series The Elusive Samurai, which adapts the story of a young heir during the Nanboku-chō period. He also voices Boss Twist, a flamboyant gang leader who loves twist dancing, in the musical anime film The Obsessed. Other voice work includes roles in the long-running children's series Ojarumaru and the video game Natsumon! 20th Century Summer Vacation.
While Yamamoto is best known to the general public for his comedic impressions, his transition to a dedicated voice actor represents a significant achievement in a multifaceted career. Since 2012, he has annually co-hosted live impressionist shows titled Henjin with fellow performers, and he continues to balance his work in comedy with an expanding portfolio of voice acting roles.
