Shun Matsuo

Description
Shun Matsuo is a Japanese comedian and voice actor known for voicing the titular character Roboco in the anime series Me & Roboco. Born on August 18, 1982, in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, his career began in comedy rather than voice acting. He entered the Tokyo branch of the Yoshimoto Comedy Academy in 2005 and formed the comedy duo Chocolate Planet with Shohei Osada in January 2006. As a comedian, Matsuo is known for his celebrity impersonations, including that of beauty expert IKKO, and he reached the finals of the R-1 Grand Prix solo comedy competition in 2019.

His most prominent anime voice role is Roboco in Me & Roboco, a comedic series that began airing in December 2022. In this series, he provides the voice for the main character, a unconventional maid robot. Matsuo reprised this role for the franchise's feature film, where he continued to voice the normal version of Roboco. The film also featured other voice actors portraying multiverse versions of the character, while Matsuo remained the primary voice for the central iteration. His comedy partner, Shohei Osada, also joined the film's voice cast as a space pirate executive, marking a collaboration between the duo in the anime.

Beyond the Me & Roboco franchise, Matsuo has taken on other voice acting work, including dubbing roles for international films such as Dennis in Bill & Ted Face the Music and Merton in DC League of Super-Pets. He has also made live-action television appearances and played himself in an episode of the long-running anime Sazae-san. A notable achievement in his voice acting career is the casting choice itself, as it is considered a form of celebrity voice acting for a comedian to take on a lead role in a weekly anime series, further highlighted by the production's use of legendary voice actors for alternate versions of his character in the film.
