Sandra Soria

Description
Sandra Soria is a Spanish voice actor and dubbing actress from Madrid. She graduated from the Soundub Formación dubbing school in Madrid, marking the beginning of her professional career in voice acting. Prior to entering the world of dubbing, Soria worked in radio, an experience that helped her discover her vocal instrument and its potential for interpretation and expression. Her initial interest in professional voice work was sparked by conversations with dubbing actors she met during her time in radio.

Soria's early dubbing projects included work in various television series and miniseries, such as providing a voice for the character María Canales in the 2020 miniseries El Visitante, based on the Stephen King novel. This early period was a significant challenge for her, marked by the pressure to perform at a high level alongside more experienced colleagues, a situation she described as a "Molotov cocktail" for her self-critical and nervous nature. She also participated in dubbing for the Netflix documentary series The Last Dance during the pandemic, providing voices for several individuals featured in the series, including Carmen Electra.

Her entry into the world of anime came in 2021 with the series Invasión de Altura, where she voiced the characters Yayoi Kusakabe and Megumi Saito. At the time, Soria had no prior familiarity with or consumption of anime, associating the genre primarily with the classic series Candy Candy and having preconceived notions of high-pitched voices and constant fighting. This first contact broadened her perspective, leading her to discover the vast and diverse nature of the anime medium. Another early anime credit for her was the series Drifting Dragons in 2020, where she voiced the character Aschera.

Soria gained significant recognition for her role as Maki Zenin in the highly anticipated film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which was released in Spain in 2022. She was unaware of the project's enormous scale and the intense anticipation from fans when she was initially cast, which she later felt grateful for as it spared her from added pressure during the recording process. The experience of working on Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was particularly memorable for her, as it marked the first time she heard her voice in a movie theater and confirmed for her the immense popularity of anime, which she witnessed firsthand at a fan event in Madrid where attendees were cosplaying as her character. Soria has expressed a deep affection for Maki Zenin, describing her as a shy, dry character with a tough exterior but a soft interior, and has stated her strong desire to continue voicing the character in future projects. She is also the Spanish voice for Akiko Miura in the 2022 Netflix anime series Tekken: Bloodline.

Beyond her anime work, Soria has a broad dubbing filmography that includes roles in live-action television series and animated shows. Her credits include voicing Chilli in the children's animated series Bluey, Nubia Gross in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, and various characters in series such as Big Sky, Big Shot, and Human Resources. Her work spans several dubbing studios in Madrid, including International Digital Centre, SDI Media, and Tecnison. Through her work, Sandra Soria has transitioned from a background in radio to becoming a recognized voice in the Spanish dubbing industry, with a growing portfolio in the world of anime.
