Her career in the entertainment industry began primarily in music before she transitioned into voice acting. During the 1990s, she sang and played keyboard for the indie band Satyagraha. After the band disbanded in 2000, she made her solo singing debut with the song Shield for the PC game Kanaria: Kono omoi o uta ni nosete. She gained wider recognition for performing theme songs for television anime, starting in 2003 with the opening themes for Green Green and Please Twins!. The single Second Flight, a duet with Kotoko for Please Twins!, became a significant hit, reaching number 15 on the Oricon charts.
Satō's transition into voice acting occurred in 2005 when she landed her first role as Rena Rune in the television anime Genesis of Aquarion and its subsequent OVAs. She reprised this role in the 2010 video game Another Century's Episode: R and also voiced the character in the theatrical film version of Aquarion. Prior to December 10, 2005, she was credited under her birth name written as 佐藤裕美, after which she changed her stage name to the phonetic 佐藤ひろ美 to ensure the correct reading of her first name.
Beyond her role in Aquarion, Satō's voice acting credits include Shino in the 2002 anime Wild 7 Another and Neo Naoh in the 2003 television series Beast Fighter - The Apocalypse. She also provided voices for video games, such as Masala Ajito in Galaxy Angel II Eigō Kaiki no Toki in 2009, NoeL in the 2011 PC game Sutadol, and Kohaku in Rune Factory 4. In the realm of theatrical animation, she voiced Rena Rune in the movie version of Genesis of Aquarion.
Satō was affiliated with ARIA Entertainment and their composing group Elements Garden, and she ran the company S Inc., a talent management and music production agency which she established in May 2007. In addition to performing, she wrote songs for other artists. In 2016, she retired from her career as a singer to focus on nurturing new talent and teaching vocal techniques, though her existing voice acting work remains part of her professional legacy.
