Sakurako Kimino is a Japanese novelist recognized as the original creator behind several major multimedia franchises that blend romance, school life, and all-female casts. Her work has been serialized in Dengeki G's Magazine, a publication by MediaWorks (later ASCII Media Works) known for bishōjo content.

Kimino first gained prominence with the light novel series Sister Princess, which began serialization in March 1999 and concluded in September 2003. The series centered on a young man who suddenly finds himself living with twelve younger sisters, each with a distinct personality. Sister Princess was adapted into a 26-episode anime television series in 2001, followed by a second anime titled Sister Princess: RePure in 2002, which aired for 13 episodes along with 12 specials. The franchise also expanded into multiple visual novels for the PlayStation and Game Boy Advance, as well as a manga adaptation titled Sister Princess: 12 Promises.

Following the success of Sister Princess, Kimino created Strawberry Panic!, a series of illustrated short stories that began in December 2003. The stories focus on three affiliated all-girls schools on Astraea Hill, with a recurring theme of intimate lesbian relationships between the characters. The original artist for the short stories was Chitose Maki. The series proved popular enough to generate a manga adaptation illustrated by Namuchi Takumi, which ran from September 2005 to February 2007 and was compiled into two volumes. Three light novels were also published between March and December 2006 under the Dengeki Bunko imprint. In 2006, an anime television series produced by Madhouse aired for 26 episodes, and a visual novel for the PlayStation 2 titled Strawberry Panic! Girls' School in Fullbloom was released the same year.

Kimino is also the creator of Baby Princess, a light novel series serialized in Dengeki G's Magazine from 2009 to 2011. This series received an anime adaptation in 2011 as the OVA Baby Princess 3D Paradise 0 [Love], produced by Studio Comet. The OVA was directed by Takayuki Inagaki, with character design by Yumiko Hara.

Perhaps Kimino's most commercially significant creation is Love Live!, a multimedia franchise that began in 2010. Love Live! follows schoolgirls who form idol groups to save their schools from closure. The franchise has generated multiple anime series including Love Live! School Idol Project (2013), Love Live! Sunshine!! (2016), Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club (2020), and Love Live! Superstar!! (2021), as well as mobile games, manga adaptations, and numerous music releases. Kimino is credited as the original creator for the entire Love Live! franchise.

Throughout her career, Kimino has maintained a consistent focus on all-female casts in school settings, exploring themes of friendship, romance, and personal growth. Her works frequently receive adaptations across multiple media formats including light novels, manga, anime, and video games, reflecting their broad appeal. The recurring presence of her series in Dengeki G's Magazine, a publication targeting male readers interested in bishōjo content, establishes her as a significant contributor to that genre from the late 1990s through the present day.
