Aoi Tada is a Japanese singer and former voice actress born on July 3, 1981, in Tokyo. She began performing at the age of three and was affiliated with the Himawari Theatre Group, appearing in stage productions such as the musical Annie, The Sound of Music, and The Goodbye Girl. Her career as a voice actress was active from approximately 1990 until 2005, with her debut in anime being the role of Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV in the series Cowboy Bebop.
In addition to providing the voice for the eccentric character Edward, Tada performed several songs for the Cowboy Bebop franchise, including the insert song Wo Qui Non Coin, the track 3.14 for the film Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (also known as Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door), and Wandering Cowboy. Beyond this signature role, her voice acting work is notably concentrated within the Digimon franchise. She voiced the Digimon partners Terriermon and Lopmon in various productions, including the television series Digimon Tamers, the film Digimon Tamers: Battle of Adventurers, and the film Digimon Tamers: Runaway Locomon. She also voiced Terriermon in the video game Digimon Rumble Arena.
After 2005, Tada stepped back from voice acting to focus on a career as a singer-songwriter, signing with the label Moon-Bunny Entertainment. However, she reprised her Digimon roles years later for the game Digimon New Century in 2021 and for Ghost Game: Digimon in 2023. As a singer, she has performed theme songs for several notable anime series. She sang the split single Doll/Human for Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino and was the vocalist for the song Brave Song, the ending theme for the series Angel Beats!. She is also affiliated with the musical group Veil, where she is credited as Veil ∞ Aoi.
