José Luccioni was a French actor and voice actor, born on August 1, 1949, who passed away on June 2, 2022. He came from a theatrical family, being the son of actress Micheline Luccioni and baritone Jacques Luccioni, and he studied at the Centre d'Art Dramatique in Paris. While a significant portion of his prolific career was dedicated to dubbing live-action films, he also contributed to numerous animated works.

Within the field of anime, Luccioni was known for providing the French voice for the character Keel Lorenz, the enigmatic leader of SEELE. He performed this role across multiple installments of the Evangelion franchise, including the original Neon Genesis Evangelion series, the films Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth and The End of Evangelion, as well as the Rebuild of Evangelion films. He also voiced Potage in the French adaptation of the long-running series Dragon Ball Super.

Beyond his work in Japanese animation, his voice was featured in other animated films and series. His filmography includes roles such as Balthazar in Rango, Abraham Van Helsing in the Hotel Transylvania franchise, and Carnaby in Atlantis: Milo's Return. His distinctive, raspy voice was a recurring presence in French dubbing, and he was also active as an artistic director for dubbing projects.
