Patrick Guillemin

Description
Patrick Guillemin was a French actor whose voice work is primarily associated with French-language dubbing of American animation and live-action films. He was born on November 13, 1950, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, and passed away on August 21, 2011, in Cap Ferret, France. A graduate of the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in the class of Louis Seigner (promotion of 1973), Guillemin had a career that spanned both on-screen roles and extensive voice acting, with his voice being widely recognized by French audiences for numerous iconic characters.

While Guillemin is not known as a voice actor for Japanese anime in the original sense, he did contribute to the French dub of the anime series Macross Plus. In one specific alternate dub for the third episode of this series, he provided the voice for the character Galudo. This role, however, represents a small part of a much larger and prolific career in French dubbing.

Guillemin's major voice roles are overwhelmingly centered in the world of American animation and film. He became the official French voice for many Looney Tunes characters from the late 1980s until a casting change in 1996, including Daffy Duck, Sylvester the Cat, and Taz. He is also famously known for his work on the French version of The Simpsons during its first nine seasons, where he voiced a vast array of prominent characters including Ned Flanders, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Barney Gumble, Waylon Smithers, and many others. His other notable voice roles included Fantasio in the animated series Spirou, various characters in Tiny Toon Adventures and Taz-Mania, and Bartok in the film Anastasia.

Throughout his dubbing career, Guillemin established recurring collaborations by being the regular French voice for several prominent American actors. He was a frequent voice for Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Kevin Spacey, Nathan Lane, and John C. McGinley, among others. His work extended to providing voices for numerous Disney and other animated feature films in French.

Beyond voice acting, Patrick Guillemin was also a stage, film, and television actor, best known to the French public for his on-screen role as Inspector Fabre in the television series Nestor Burma. Before his death, he had recorded dialogue for the French version of The Looney Tunes Show, with his final performances appearing posthumously.
