Bill Townsley is an American voice actor based in Dallas, Texas, who has been active in the anime dubbing industry since the early 2000s. He began his career at FUNimation, which is now known as Crunchyroll, working as a web and motion graphics designer in the year 2000 before transitioning into voice work. This behind-the-scenes role provided the foundation for a long career bringing numerous characters to life, most notably a wide array of antagonists and supporting figures across several major anime franchises.
Townsley is best known for his extensive work within the Dragon Ball universe. He has voiced a significant number of characters across the series' films, television episodes, and video games. Among his notable roles in this franchise are the Frieza Force soldier Cui, a role he has reprised in multiple video games including Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero; the Ginyu Force member Guldo in the remastered English dubs; and Neiz, a member of Cooler's armored squadron in the film Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge. He also voiced Lord Jaguar in Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly, as well as Don Para, Appule, Monster Carrot in Dragon Ball: Origins, and the sorcerer Babidi in several video games such as Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and 3.
Beyond Dragon Ball, Townsley provided the English voice for Elder Toguro, one of the primary antagonists in the long-running series Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files. He also appeared in the Lupin III franchise, voicing the character General Headhunter in the film Lupin III: Dead or Alive. His other anime credits include a role as Scar's Brother in Fullmetal Alchemist.
