Hiroyuki Ōta

Description
Hiroyuki Ōta is a Japanese former actor known primarily for his work as a child and young adult performer in film and television during the 1960s and 1970s, including two notable anime voice roles. Born on November 25, 1947 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, Ōta began his entertainment career as a child actor in the late 1950s before transitioning to youthful lead roles in teen-oriented films.

As a voice actor, Ōta is specifically recognized for portraying the protagonist Joe Shimamura, also known as Cyborg 009, in two animated feature films from the 1960s. He first voiced the character in the 1966 film Cyborg 009, and reprised the role for the 1967 sequel Cyborg 009 and the Monster Wars. These two productions represent his only known anime voice acting credits. The role of Cyborg 009 was subsequently passed to voice actor Katsuji Mori for the 1968 television series adaptation.

Unlike a dedicated voice actor with an extensive anime career, Ōta worked primarily as a screen actor. His filmography includes appearances in numerous live-action films throughout the 1960s, such as The Little Runaway (1966), Why Are We Young? (1965), and The Big Wave (1961). He also performed in historical television dramas during the 1970s. Ōta retired from the entertainment industry in 1976 and did not continue working as a voice actor beyond his two early anime film roles. There is no available information regarding recurring collaborations with other voice actors or specific industry achievements in the field of anime voice acting.
