Henry Djanik, born Arthur Djanikian on March 21, 1926, in Varna, Bulgaria, was a French actor of Armenian descent who became one of the most recognized voices in French dubbing. He passed away on August 18, 2008, in Le Perreux-sur-Marne, France. Before his career in performance, he worked in a factory as a teenager and served in the French Forces of the Interior during World War II. After the war, he took an acting class and began appearing in films and on stage, with his work including screen appearances in Henri Verneuil films such as Peur sur la ville and I... comme Icare. His entry into the world of dubbing came in 1954 with the help of a friend, actor Jacques Thébault.

Djanik possessed a unique, deep, and gravelly voice that was instantly recognizable and highly sought after for character roles. This distinctive vocal quality allowed him to become the regular French voice for a host of international film stars, most notably Anthony Quinn in the majority of his films. He also frequently dubbed Telly Savalas, best known for his role in Kojak, as well as Mr. T in The A-Team, Ernest Borgnine, Steve McQueen, and Charles Bronson.

Within the realm of anime and animation, Henry Djanik left a significant mark. He is best known for his role as Ikki, the Bronze Saint of the Phoenix, in the French dub of the classic anime series Saint Seiya, known in France as Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque. His portrayal of the brooding and powerful Ikki is considered a signature role. He reprised this voice for the character in the films related to the series, including Saint Seiya: The Heated Battle of the Gods. Beyond the character of Ikki, Djanik voiced several other roles within the same Saint Seiya universe, including the wise Old Master (Dohko), the villainous Grand Pope, the guardian Tatsumi, and the powerful Aldebaran of Taurus.

His animation career was extensive and included many other prominent roles. He was the French voice of the main antagonist Megatron in the original Transformers series, as well as other characters like Omega Supreme. He also lent his voice to Panthro, Jaga, and Jackalman in Thundercats (known as Cosmocats in France) and to Leader-1 in Challenge of the GoBots. For younger audiences, he was a beloved presence as the voice of Eeyore (Bourriquet) and Owl (Maître Hibou) in various French adaptations of Winnie the Pooh from 1977 into the early 2000s. His wide range of roles also included the villain Sykes in Oliver & Company, Horos in Goldorak, and characters in series like Once Upon a Time... Man and Once Upon a Time... Life.
