Benjamin Bryan
Description
Benjamin Bryan is an American actor and voice actor known primarily for his work as a child performer in the mid-2000s. He is most widely recognized for providing the English voice of Denzel, an orphaned boy living with Tifa and Cloud Strife, in the 2005 CGI film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. His performance in this role remains his most notable credit in the voice acting field.
Bryan began his on-screen career in the early 2000s with guest appearances on several television series. His first credited acting role was an appearance on the sketch comedy series MADtv in 2001. He subsequently made guest appearances on popular shows such as Malcolm in the Middle, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Arrested Development, and Everybody Hates Chris.
Beyond his work in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Bryan built a substantial body of voice work in animation and video games during 2006. That year, he contributed voice talent to several animated feature films, including Disney's Brother Bear 2 and The Ant Bully. He also provided voices for the animated television special He's a Bully, Charlie Brown. In the video game industry, his credits from the same period include Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus, Baten Kaitos Origins, and Thrillville.
His career includes a mix of both on-camera and voice acting roles. His live-action television credits during the 2000s also feature appearances on The New Adventures of Old Christine, Without a Trace, and Rodney. Later, he performed voice work for the animated series Wolverine and the X-Men in 2009.
For the 2009 rerelease titled Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, which included new and re-recorded scenes, the role of Denzel was recast. Due to the passage of time since the original production, Bryan had aged out of the character, and the part was taken over by actor Aaron Refvem.
