Shougo Suzuki
Description
Shougo Suzuki is a Japanese actor and narrator known primarily for providing the Japanese voice of the character Vincent Valentine across various installments of the Final Fantasy VII franchise. Born on April 12, 1963 in Tokyo, Japan, Suzuki began his career in entertainment working as a narrator for television commercials and corporate instructional videos.
Suzuki made his debut as a voice actor with the role that would come to define his voice acting career. In 2005, he was cast as Vincent Valentine in the computer-generated film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, produced by Square Enix. His performance as the brooding, red-cloaked former Turk established him as the definitive Japanese voice for the character. He has since reprised this role in related projects, including the 2006 video game Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, the mobile game Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia in 2017, and most recently the 2024 release Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. This sustained association with a single prominent character across nearly two decades represents the most significant achievement of his voice acting career.
Beyond his signature work in the Final Fantasy series, Suzuki has contributed his voice to other media projects. He is credited with voicing Kenpachi Zaraki in the game Bleach: The Dark of the Bleeding Moon and has also performed in Bleach-related stage musical productions. Additionally, he voices the character Enfield in the smartphone game The Thousand Noble Musketeers: Rhodoknight, a role that has also involved him performing character songs and participating in audio drama CDs related to that franchise.
In addition to his voice work, Suzuki maintains an active career as a stage actor and on-screen performer. He has appeared in films such as Cure (1997) and has had roles in the Super Sentai television series, including Samurai Sentai Shinkenger in 2009 and the film Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle in 2011. He was also a member of the theater group Early Times, which is led by actor Masato Hagiwara. His acting agency affiliations include AXTO Production for his voice acting and narration work, and Ishii Mitsuzo Office for his on-screen acting roles.
