Bernard Faure

Description
Bernard Faure was a French actor and comedian who worked extensively in Belgian television and provided voice dubbing for numerous animated series and films. Born on November 23, 1929 in Houilles, France, he later became a beloved figure on Belgian television, particularly known by the nickname Monsieur Zygo for his hidden camera segments on the program Zygomaticorama. Faure passed away on September 30, 2016 in Brussels at the age of 86.

His career in voice acting began later in life, as he entered the field of dubbing following his retirement from television work in the mid-1990s. Despite starting relatively late, he built an extensive portfolio of roles in anime and children's animation, primarily working on dubs produced in Belgium.

Faure is perhaps best known to anime fans for his portrayal of the elderly martial arts master Tung Fu Rue in the Fatal Fury film series. He voiced this character in the 1992 film Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf and its 1993 sequel, Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle. In the 1994 film Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, he voiced a different character, M. Sang. Another significant anime role was that of the Conte Millenaire, also known as the Millennium Earl, the primary antagonist in the series D.Gray-man, a role he performed for the French dub.

Beyond these two prominent roles, Faure's voice work was extensive. He voiced Dohko the Elder in the OAV series Saint Seiya: Chapitre Hadès - Le Sanctuaire. In the Pokémon anime, he provided voices for the characters Kenzo and Gan Gogh. He also appeared in the French dub of Kenshin le Vagabond as Marcus Murakami. In the world of non-Japanese animation, he was a regular presence as Mr. Hibou (Mr. Owl) in the children's series Franklin, a role he performed from 1997 to 2004. His other dubbing credits include roles in Les Enquêtes de Kindaichi, La Famille Berenstain, Anne des pignons verts, and the film The Gruffalo.
