Volker Niederfahrenhorst is a German actor and voice actor born on September 20, 1955, in Ratingen, Germany. He completed his acting training at the Westfälische Schauspielschule Bochum and has performed on stage at theater houses in cities including Bochum and Zurich. Since the fall semester of 2008, he has also worked as a lecturer in the acting department at the Alanus University of Arts and Society.

As a voice actor, Niederfahrenhorst is primarily active in the German dubbing industry, providing voices for characters in animated series and films. Among his known anime voice roles in the German dub are Masato Marukawa in the series Shirobako and Toshio Fukuzawa in the series Babylon. He also voiced Kimari's Father in A Place Further Than the Universe, a man in Photo Kano, the Cheermancy Doctor in Punch Line, and a man from Rukongai in the television series Bleach.

Beyond his work in anime, Niederfahrenhorst has an extensive career as an audiobook and radio play narrator. The ARD radio play database lists nearly 200 entries featuring him as a speaker since 1986. He has received the Vierteljahrespreis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, a quarterly award from the German Record Critics' Award, for his audiobook work. He is particularly known for narrating novels from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series as well as the Long Earth quadrilogy co-written by Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. His other audiobook credits include works by authors such as Andreas Eschbach, Elizabeth George, and Stephen Baxter.
