Masaaki Maeda, also known by the stage name Masaki Maeda, was a Japanese actor and voice actor born on July 6, 1932, in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. He was affiliated with the talent agency Kiraboshi. His career spanned several decades, beginning with his first television drama appearance in 1973. He also had a notable presence in live-action television, with roles in productions such as the historical drama "Aoi Tokugawa Sandai" and the mystery series "Kagi no Kakatta Heya."

In the field of voice acting, Maeda is best known for his role as the primary antagonist in the 1991 anime film Mobile Suit Gundam F91. He provided the voice for Carozzo Ronah, the character widely known by his alias "Iron Mask." In this installment of the long-running Gundam franchise, Iron Mask is the charismatic but ruthless commander of the Crossbone Vanguard who has undergone extensive cybernetic enhancement.

Beyond his voice work, Maeda was also active as a screen actor. His other voice acting credits include the role of Koroppi in the 1990 film "Keroppi no Daibouken: Fushigi na Mame no Ki" and the character Nora in "Hoero! Bun Bun." He also contributed to the Japanese dub of foreign films, lending his voice to actors such as Richard Harris in "The Wild Geese" and Donald Sutherland in "Ordinary People."

Masaaki Maeda passed away on February 27, 2024, in Tokyo due to ischemic heart failure. He was 91 years old at the time of his death.
