Louis Arbessier was a French actor who performed extensive voice work, including roles in several animated series. Born on April 9, 1907, in Vienne, Isère, France, and passing away on March 23, 1998, in Paris, Arbessier had a career that spanned from the early 1940s into the mid-1990s. He was a pensionnaire of the prestigious Comédie-Française and appeared in numerous live-action French films and television productions.

Within the realm of anime and animated series, one of his most recognized roles is Sysiphe in the 1981 Franco-Japanese series Ulysses 31. This science fiction reimagining of Homer's Odyssey saw Arbessier providing the French voice for the character of Sysiphe across all twenty-six episodes of the show's original run.

Beyond Ulysses 31, Arbessier voiced characters in several other notable animated productions. He played Mr. Dufarge in the 1985 anime series Princesse Sarah, an adaptation of the novel A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The same year, he took on the role of Shag-shag in Les Mondes Engloutis, another Franco-Japanese co-production known for its fantasy adventure storyline. His voice acting portfolio also included roles in the anime series Captain Flam, the French adaptation of Goldorak (known as Grand-père de Phénicia), and the film Le Château de Cagliostro. He also provided voices for adaptations of Western literature and fantasy, such as playing Isaac of York in an animated version of Ivanhoé and the wizard Saruman in a French production of The Lord of the Rings.

While his career in voice acting for animation was notable, Louis Arbessier was also a prolific dubbing artist for live-action films. He is particularly remembered by French audiences as the longstanding French voice of Q, the quartermaster of the British Secret Service, famously played by actor Desmond Llewelyn. He voiced this character starting with the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me and continued in the role through several subsequent Bond films, including For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View to a Kill, The Living Daylights, Licence to Kill, and GoldenEye in 1995. This long association with a major film franchise represents a significant achievement in his dubbing career.
