Michel Bardinet was a French actor and voice actor whose career spanned from the 1950s to the early 2000s. He was born on November 15, 1931, in Toulon, France, and passed away on February 22, 2005, in Apt, France.
Bardinet began his career in live-action film and television, studying acting under Mady Berry and Raymond Gérôme before performing on stage in productions such as The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial and Theatre. He appeared in numerous French and Italian films throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including roles in Mademoiselle Strip-tease and the television serial Janique Aimée. Later in his career, he became increasingly involved in voice dubbing for French-language versions of both animated series and live-action films.
In animation, Bardinet is recognized for several significant voice roles. He is known for providing voices for multiple characters in the 1981 Franco-Japanese series Ulysses 31. In this series, he voiced Antinos, as well as the god Hermès, the robot Cortex, and the leader of the shark-men of Squalopolis. His other notable work in animated features includes providing the French voice for the character Powhatan in the 1995 Disney film Pocahontas. He also voiced Master Sebrian in The New Adventures of He-Man.
Beyond animation, Bardinet had an extensive career dubbing live-action performances into French. He was the French voice for actor Leonard Nimoy as Captain Spock in the film Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. His other dubbing credits include Josef Sommer in Reds, George Gaynes in Tootsie, and Terence Stamp in Wall Street. He continued to act on screen as well, with his final television appearance being in the 2000 series Victoire, or the pain of women.
