Pierre Hatet

Description
Pierre Hatet was a French actor whose career spanned more than sixty years, during which he became one of the most recognized voices in French dubbing. Born on April 20, 1930, Hatet initially pursued classical theatre after being discovered by Jean Vilar, performing in dramatic plays for radio and television before transitioning to voice work. He passed away on May 24, 2019.

In the field of anime, Hatet is known for several prominent roles that helped define French-language versions of classic series and films. He provided the voice of Chronos, the master of time, in the Franco-Japanese animated series Ulysses 31. Another key anime role was that of the Colonel, also known as Colonel Shikishima, in the landmark cyberpunk film Akira. This role is frequently cited as a major credit in his voice acting career. Beyond these two notable examples, his other anime and animation work included voicing Nakamura in Ghost in the Shell, as well as Gomez in the animated series The Mysterious Cities of Gold and the character Brain, also known as Cortex, in the French versions of Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain.

While Hatet had a vast career spanning many types of productions, he achieved significant recognition for being the regular French voice of actor Christopher Lloyd. This included the iconic role of Dr. Emmett Doc Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy, where his delivery of the line Nom de Zeus became particularly famous. He was also the primary French voice of the Joker in the majority of the character's animated appearances, television series, and video games from 1992 to 2015, including Batman: The Animated Series and the Batman: Arkham video game series. In the broader field of dubbing, he frequently collaborated with a number of other French voice actors, including Vincent Violette, Jean-Claude Sachot, Adrien Antoine, and Bruno Dubernat.
