Ricard Solans, also known as Ricardo Solans, was a Spanish dubbing actor born in Barcelona on December 3, 1939. He began his career in the theater, debuting in a production of Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie. His first work in dubbing was providing the voice for the protagonist in Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet, but his career was truly launched when he dubbed a then-unknown Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate in 1967.
Solans is most celebrated for being the regular Spanish voice for a roster of major Hollywood actors. He was the habitual voice of Robert De Niro in over eighty films, and of Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, and Sylvester Stallone in dozens of movies each. His extensive filmography includes iconic roles such as Tony Montana in Scarface, Michael Corleone in The Godfather Part III, Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver, and Bruce Wayne in Tim Burton Batman. In animation, he voiced Scar in the Spanish dub of The Lion King. He also took on challenging vocal performances, such as playing a female character while dubbing Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie.
