Atsushi Tamaru is a Japanese voice actor born on February 27, 1986, in Hokkaido, though he was raised in Saitama Prefecture. He is currently affiliated with Mausu Promotion, having transferred from Sigma Seven on April 1, 2020. His interest in becoming a voice actor was sparked during high school when he heard anime songs on a radio program hosted by voice actors. He began attending a voice actor training school during his second year of university and made his debut in a television animation in 2009 with a role in Kupū!! Mamegoma!.

Tamaru is known for his youthful and calm boyish voice, often taking on roles of沉稳少年 (calm and steady young men). He has built a substantial career with a wide range of major roles across anime series, films, and video games. Among his most notable anime roles are Mochizō Ōji in Tamako Market and its film sequel Tamako Love Story, Mikihiko Yoshida in The Irregular at Magic High School, Ayato Amagiri in The Asterisk War, Akira Kunimi in Haikyū!!, and Tsumugi Tsukioka in A3!. In the film requested, he voices the character Taro Kamogawa in Goodbye, Don Glees! (2022). Another prominent film role is the antagonist Paradox in the 2010 movie Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time, a time-traveling duelist from a ruined future who seeks to destroy the Duel Monsters card game.

Beyond these, his filmography includes significant roles in popular franchises such as Ichigo Hitofuri in Touken Ranbu, Shōichi Kamita in Seiren, Takumi Hira in Tsuki ga Kirei, and Byakuya in Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits-. He also has a prominent role as Azul Ashengrotto in the hit mobile game Disney: Twisted-Wonderland, a character he voices across various game and anime adaptations.
