Description
Reent Reins was a German actor and voice actor known for his distinctive baritone voice. Born on October 10, 1943, in Otterndorf, Germany, he passed away on December 9, 2025, at the age of 82 following heart surgery.

Reins completed his artistic training at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Hamburg from 1962 to 1965, studying under Eduard Marks and Rolf Nagel. He made his stage debut in 1965 at the Landesbühne Niedersachsen-Mitte in The Diary of Anne Frank and performed at numerous prestigious theaters including the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, theaters in Cologne and Essen, the Stuttgart State Theater, and the Ruhr Festival in Recklinghausen. His television career began in 1965 under director Egon Monk in the production Ein Tag – Bericht aus einem deutschen Konzentrationslager 1939. He appeared in many German crime series such as Tatort, Wolffs Revier, Großstadtrevier, Ein Fall für Zwei, and Küstenwache.

As a voice actor, Reins is best known as the official German dubbing voice of American actor Don Johnson, providing his voice for Johnson in Miami Vice, Nash Bridges, Django Unchained, Rebel Ridge, and numerous other productions. He also dubbed many other international actors including Michael Landon in Highway to Heaven, Alec Baldwin, David Carradine, Tony Curtis, John Shea in Lois & Clark: The Adventures of Superman, and Dolph Lundgren.

In the world of anime, Reent Reins provided the German voice for the nine-tailed fox spirit Kurama, also known as Kyuubi, in the series Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. This includes his role as Kurama in Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie. His deep vocal quality suited the powerful and ancient fox demon, making him a recognizable presence in the German dubs of these popular anime franchises.

Beyond anime, Reins was active in radio dramas for popular series such as The Three Investigators (Die drei???) and TKKG, and worked as a station voice for various television channels. He also lent his voice to computer games. According to the Deutsche Synchronkartei, he recorded over 400 vocal roles throughout his career. His wife, Birgit Reins, confirmed that he remained actively engaged as a voice actor for radio plays and dubbing until the end of his life.
