Urs Remond is a German actor and voice actor known for his deep baritone voice and extensive work in film, television, and audio productions. He was born on October 12, 1964, in Neukirchen-Vluyn, Germany, and holds both German and Swiss nationalities. He began his artistic training with classical ballet at the age of twelve, a path that ended due to a motorcycle accident. Subsequently, he pursued acting, studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg from 1983 to 1986.

Following his education, Remond worked in theater in Hamburg and Berlin, where he also took on roles as a director and writer. His on-screen career began in the late 1980s, and he gained significant recognition for his leading roles in German television series. These include his performance as Dr. Mark Harland in the action series Medicopter 117 and as Bill Conolly in John Sinclair, Geisterjäger. He has also appeared in numerous other popular German programs such as In aller Freundschaft, SOKO Stuttgart, and Alarm für Cobra 11. Internationally, he has been featured in the American series Covert Affairs and the BBC miniseries 37 Days, where he played German Ambassador Prince Lichnowsky.

In the realm of anime, Urs Remond is best known for his role as Gendo Ikari, the enigmatic commander of the special agency NERV. He provides the German voice for this character in the Netflix re-synchronization of the classic series Neon Genesis Evangelion from 1995 to 1996, as well as in the film The End of Evangelion from 1997. In this newer dub produced in 2019, he voices the character originally performed by Japanese voice actor Fumihiko Tachiki.

Beyond his work in anime and on-screen acting, Remond has an extensive career in voice work for video games and audio books. He has provided voice talent for major video game titles, including a leading role as tank commander Peter Müller in Battlefield V and a role in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. As an audiobook narrator, his sonorous baritone has been featured in numerous productions. In 2024, he narrated Paul Auster's final novel, Baumgartner, which reached number one on the hr2 audiobook bestseller list. He has also worked as an author, writing screenplays and audio dramas.
