She began her career in the United Kingdom, where she earned a first-class honours degree in Performing Arts and co-founded the theatre company En-root, for which she toured in self-devised pieces such as Havisham. Her early stage work also included performances in productions like West Side Story and Woyzeck with FullTilt Theatre.

Returning to her hometown of Hong Kong, Down expanded her professional repertoire to include voice-over work. She worked as a voice artist dubbing both Chinese and Japanese cartoons and films into English, a role that also included voicing commercials and electronic games. In the realm of anime, Daniella Down is known for her voice roles in the Inazuma Eleven GO series. She provided the English voice for the character Adé Kebé in Inazuma Eleven GO.
