Michael Keaton

Description
Michael Keaton, born Michael John Douglas on September 5, 1951, is an American actor known for a career that spans both live-action and voice performance. While he is widely recognized for his leading roles in films such as Batman and Beetlejuice, his work as a voice actor includes several notable animated productions. Keaton began venturing into voice work in the early 2000s, and his credits in this area span both Western animated features and Japanese anime.

Keaton's most prominent role in the anime genre is providing the English voice for the title character in Porco Rosso, the 1992 Studio Ghibli film directed by Hayao Miyazaki. In the English dub of this film, he voices Porco Rosso, a former World War I flying ace who has been mysteriously transformed into an anthropomorphic pig and now works as a bounty hunter in the Adriatic Sea. This performance remains his most direct and celebrated contribution to anime voice acting.

Beyond his work in anime, Keaton has voiced characters in several major Western animated films. He provided the voice for Chick Hicks, the rival race car, in the Pixar film Cars. He also voiced the character Ken in Toy Story 3, another Pixar production, and portrayed Walter Nelson in the Illumination Entertainment film Minions.

From a broader career perspective, Keaton has received numerous accolades throughout his live-action career, including a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards, with additional nominations for an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award. His voice work in animation has been part of his sustained activity in the film industry, but his role in Porco Rosso stands as the singular example of his work specifically within the anime medium.
