Description
Jean Reno is a Moroccan-born French actor who has also worked as a voice actor, primarily for French-language dubs of animated features. He was born on July 30, 1948, in Casablanca, Morocco. While he is internationally famous for his live-action film career, his work in animation and voice-over has brought his distinctive deep voice to several notable projects.

Reno is best known in the world of anime for his role as the voice of the title character in the French dub of the Studio Ghibli film Porco Rosso, directed by Hayao Miyazaki and released in 1992. In this film, he provides the French voice for the protagonist, a former World War I ace fighter pilot cursed to look like an anthropomorphic pig. This was his first dubbing project, and his performance in Porco Rosso was highly regarded, with director Hayao Miyazaki reportedly being very impressed by his voice work for the character. The French cast for the film also included Jean-Luc Reichmann and Gérard Hernandez.

Beyond his work in Japanese animation, Reno has an extensive history of providing voices for French versions of major Hollywood animated films. Notably, he voiced Mufasa in the French dub of Disney's The Lion King. He also provided the voice for the character Vincenzo Santorini in the French version of another Disney film, Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

His voice acting career demonstrates a recurring pattern of collaborating with major animation studios for French localizations. He has worked with Studio Ghibli on Porco Rosso and with Disney on The Lion King and Atlantis. This body of work highlights his achievement of becoming a recognized and recurring voice in French-dubbed animation, lending his established screen persona to animated characters. While his anime-specific role is primarily limited to Porco Rosso, this performance remains a significant entry in his voice acting filmography.
