Reg Green
Description
Reg Green is the professional alias of American voice actor Deem Reginald Bristow, who worked extensively in anime dubbing and video games from the mid-1980s until his death in 2005. Born on April 11, 1947, Bristow adopted the name Reg Green for much of his voice-over work in English-language adaptations of Japanese animation. He is recognized for bringing a range of supporting and character roles to life in several notable anime series from the early 2000s.
One of Reg Green's most recognized anime roles is Masami Hirukawa in the acclaimed psychological thriller Paranoia Agent, directed by Satoshi Kon. Hirukawa is a corrupt, portly police officer who accepts bribes from the yakuza while attempting to maintain the facade of a dedicated family man, eventually becoming entangled in the series' central mystery surrounding the attacker known as Lil' Slugger. Green also voiced the character known as The Sage of Gabe in the dystopian cyberpunk series Texhnolyze. The Sage resides in the community of Gabe within the underground city of Lux, serving as a guide to the mysterious girl Ran. Beyond these two prominent credits, his anime voice work included roles in R.O.D the TV, in which he voiced an Old Man and a Chief Researcher, and in Rumic Theater: Mermaid Forest, where he played a Flower Shop Owner and Manager Hosoda. He also appeared in the science fiction original video animation Spirit of Wonder as the character Breckenridge.
In addition to his work in anime, Deem Bristow, performing both under his own name and as Reg Green, was perhaps most widely recognized for his portrayal of the iconic villain Doctor Eggman in the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series. He voiced the character from Sonic Adventure in 1998 through Sonic Riders in 2004. His other video game credits included roles in Diablo II as Meshif and Blue Stinger as Dogs Bower. Deem Reginald Bristow passed away on January 15, 2005, in San Diego, California, at the age of fifty-seven.
